Geropsych Unit

Our Geropsych Unit provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment to our senior patients needing specialist care. We have a total of 10 beds in our inpatient unit for the care of individuals aged 55 or older. With a team of highly trained in-house psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, plus recreational and occupational therapists, we're able to provide the care needed to understand and manage changes in behavior or mental health in our senior patients.
Our core service at the Geropsych Unit provides the resources and support needed to recover from emotional illness and receive the very best medical and psychological support possible. We are highly experienced in helping both families and seniors to determine the causes of behavioral and mental changes. We work to provide expert assistance and individualized care to the highest standards for every single one of our patients.
Our Process
All inpatient treatment at our Geropsych Unit starts with an initial assessment with our specialist team. We ensure we are as thorough as possible, listening to our patients and their families to understand the causes of behavioral and mental changes.
Once initial assessments are over, our treatment team works directly with our patients, their loved ones, and any additional health professionals to create a tailored, individual plan to work toward. This plan will include individual meetings with a host of specialists, from psychiatrists to recreational and occupational therapists. Our treatment plans also include individual and group therapy and other helpful therapies such as family therapy. Educational programs may also play a part in treatment. Our ultimate goal is to provide our patients with the means and support to return to their previous living arrangements.

Our Focus
Our focus at the Geropsych Unit is specifically on the individual we are caring for. Instead of taking the standardized approach to care in older adults, we use our resources and expertise to provide individualized support and treatment plans in line with each person. Every senior we support is individual in their needs, care requirements, and path to improved behavioral and mental health. Our care reflects this, and we always take the extra steps to treat our patients as individuals.
We understand how difficult it can be for our patients’ loved ones to seek extra help and support. If you're concerned about the wellbeing or health of a loved one due to their behavior or emotional state, our team can provide the care needed for recovery and treatment.
